The Pre-Spring Nervous System Reset (Because We’re Still Tired)

The Pre-Spring Nervous System Reset (Because We’re Still Tired)

There’s something about this time of year that feels confusing.

The days are getting lighter. The bulbs are starting to bloom. Everyone talks about “fresh starts” and “spring energy.”

And yet… many of us still feel tired.

If you’re a woman over 30 juggling work, family, responsibilities and the mental load that never really switches off — you’re not behind. You’re not unmotivated.

Your nervous system is simply still in winter.

And before we try to “spring clean” our lives, we need to gently reset the part of us that has been in survival mode for months.

Why We Feel Depleted at the End of Winter

Winter isn’t just hard on our skin — it’s hard on our nervous system too.

Less daylight. More time indoors. Central heating. Broken sleep. End-of-year stress. January pressure.

By the time February and early March roll around, our bodies are still catching up.

When we ignore that and try to force productivity, our stress hormones spike. Sleep suffers. Skin flares. Anxiety creeps in.

Spring energy doesn’t start with doing more.

It starts with regulation.

Your Nervous System Loves Ritual

The nervous system responds beautifully to repetition and sensory cues — especially scent and touch.

That’s why aromatherapy is so powerful.

When you inhale essential oils, they communicate directly with the limbic system — the emotional centre of the brain. Certain oils like lavender and frankincense can encourage a sense of calm, grounding and safety.

This is also why switching from synthetic fragrances to natural room sprays can make such a difference in your home.

Many conventional sprays contain alcohol denat., synthetic parfum and harsh ingredients that can feel stimulating rather than soothing.

Our natural room sprays are created with essential oils designed to gently support mood, not overwhelm it.

The atmosphere in your space matters more than you think.

A 10-Minute Pre-Spring Reset Ritual

You don’t need a weekend retreat. You don’t need a full detox.

You need ten intentional minutes.

Here’s what I personally recommend:

1. Set the Atmosphere

Light a candle or dim the lights.

Mist one of our natural room sprays around your bedroom or living space. Let the scent settle. Take one slow inhale through your nose.

Already, your body begins to soften.

2. Ground Through Touch

Warm a few drops of Relaxing Face & Body Oil between your palms.

Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in. Slowly massage into your neck and collarbones using upward strokes.

Long, slow movements tell your nervous system you are safe.

3. Prioritise Sleep

If winter has disrupted your sleep (which it does for so many of us), this is the time to rebuild it gently.

Mist your Sleepy Head Pillow Spray before bed.
Use a small amount of balm on pulse points.
Create consistency.

Spring energy is built at night.

Why Better Sleep = Better Skin

When your nervous system is calmer, cortisol levels lower.

When cortisol lowers:

  • Inflammation reduces

  • Skin barrier function improves

  • Breakouts calm

  • Fine lines look softer

  • Glow returns

We often try to fix tired skin with stronger actives.

But sometimes what we actually need is deeper rest.

You Don’t Need to Bounce Back

There’s so much messaging about “coming out of hibernation.”

But maybe instead of rushing forward, we transition gently.

Think:

  • Nourishment over stripping

  • Ritual over routine

  • Calm over chaos

  • Natural room sprays instead of synthetic overwhelm

  • Oils instead of harsh exfoliation

Spring doesn’t demand urgency.

It invites softness.

And when your nervous system feels supported, everything else — your sleep, your mood, your skin — begins to shift naturally.

If you’re still feeling tired, you’re not doing anything wrong.

You’re just ready for a gentler reset.

And that’s exactly what this season is for. 🌿
