Smells like
Lavender, but the soft kind that grows wild in a summer garden — warm and quiet, never sharp. Frankincense sits beneath it, woody and grounding. Chamomile lifts through, gentle and tea-warm. The kind of scent that makes the room feel a little quieter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can pillow sprays actually help sleep?
Pillow sprays don't put you to sleep — but the right scents help signal to your brain that the day is over. Sleepy Head pairs lavender (long-used for relaxation), chamomile (calming and gentle), and frankincense (grounding) into a ritual cue that tells your body it's time to wind down. Used as part of an evening routine, it's a small habit that consistently shows up in our customer reviews.
How do I use a pillow spray?
Mist lightly onto your pillow and bedding from about 15–20cm away, after patch-testing. Allow the fabric to air-dry completely before use. See the pillowcare FAQ below for fabric precautions. Make it part of a wind-down routine — alongside dimming the lights, putting your phone away, or a chamomile tea — so your brain starts associating the scent with sleep.
Can I use it if I feel stressed or anxious?
Many customers tell us they reach for Sleepy Head beyond just bedtime — before meditation, during journaling, on travel days, before big events, or any time they want a calming sensory reset. The scent itself doesn't treat stress, but creating a consistent ritual around it can help shift state.
How long does the scent last?
Sleepy Head's scent lingers gently on your pillow for several hours — strong enough to notice as you drift off, soft enough not to overwhelm. Most customers find the scent fades naturally by morning. One bottle (50ml) typically lasts 2-3 months with nightly use.
Can children use it?
Sleepy Head is gently formulated and used by many parents to create calming bedtime routines for older children. For babies under 2 years old, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider before introducing any aromatherapy product.
What makes this different from typical pillow sprays?
Most high-street pillow sprays are alcohol-based with synthetic fragrance — which means a sharper, more chemical scent that can dry out fabrics with little to no real sleep benefits. Sleepy Head is made with spring water and floral waters as the base, with real essential oils (lavender, frankincense) for scent. No synthetic fragrance, no alcohol, no parabens. It's why our spray feels and smells different — softer, deeper, and more genuinely calming.
Pillowcare FAQ
How much should I spray, and from how far away?
Hold the bottle about 15–20cm away and mist lightly, rather than soaking the fabric. Use only enough for a light mist; avoid repeatedly spraying the same spot.
How long should I let it dry?
Allow the fabric to air-dry completely before resting your head on it. Drying time varies with the amount sprayed, the fabric and room conditions, so check that it is fully dry rather than relying on a fixed waiting time.
Could it mark my pillowcase?
Fabric suitability has not been confirmed for every material or finish, so do not assume the spray will be mark-free. Before first use, lightly spray a small, hidden area and let it dry fully. Check for marks or colour changes before using it more widely; stop using it on that fabric if you notice a change.
Can I use it on any pillowcase material?
Check your pillowcase's care instructions first and patch-test even everyday fabrics such as cotton or linen. Avoid spraying directly onto silk, satin or other delicate fabrics. A patch test does not guarantee suitability for every fabric or repeated use.
